Asymmetrical superelastic behavior of thermomechanically processed semi-equiatomic NiTi alloy in tensile and compressive modes of deformation

In the present work two different cold working and annealing schemes were utilized, asymmetric superelastic response of thermomechanically processed materials then assessed through cyclic tensile compressive modes deformation. The values transformation stress, strain, pseudoelastic strain measured for each treated solutionized specimens was compared. solution annealed state, difference these parameters at deformation negligible due to weak texture material, while ones, development specific recrystallization components identified be one underlying reasons intensified asymmetry. evolved substructure during thermomechanical processing also played a substantial role in determining response. presence fine grains dense dislocation could hinder movement front, thus limiting range transformation. mode, stress lower, but higher achieved, which discussed relying on slip activity specified oriented grains. lower compression mode led narrow finally degraded material.
